About APSIG
The Asia Pacific School of Internet Governance (APSIG) is an annual event focused on capacity building and awareness-raising in Internet Governance across the Asia Pacific region. It was established as part of broader efforts to promote Schools on Internet Governance globally. Founded by the team of enthusiasts led by Professor Kilnam Chon, considered the “Father of the Internet in Asia Pacific,” APSIG aims to provide comprehensive training programs for aspiring youths and regional leaders.
Objectives of APSIG
- Organize the APSIG Conference annually or more frequently if required, within the Asia-Pacific region, by bringing together eminent speakers and experts on all topics of relevance to Internet Governance, and emerging technology topics in particular
- Promote and support Schools on Internet Governance (SIGs) in the Asia-Pacific Region
- Provide training services to organizers and speakers at national and local SIGs
- Discuss and address issues common to national SIGs including pedagogy, post-program follow-up, faculty & speakers, session formats, quality control, funding and certification
- Raise funds as grants, sponsorships or other forms in order to maintain the activities of APSIG at a high level of quality
- Ensure overall accountability processes within APSIG including but not limited to financial prudence in managing operations.

Key Responsibilities of the Local Host
The Local Host will be essential in ensuring success by providing logistical support and fostering a conducive learning environment:
- Venue Provision: Secure an accessible venue with Meeting rooms, breakout spaces, and networking areas reliable high-speed internet access and necessary audio-visual equipment
- Accommodation: Arrange accommodation options at various price points near the venue.
- Catering: Provide catering services (lunches, coffee breaks), considering welcome/closing events.
- Local Transportation: Assist with transportation arrangements or provide information on public transport options.
- Visa Support: Support visa application processes if required for international participants and resource persons.
- Collaboration: Work closely with APSIG Board and Secretariat on all logistical aspects, collaborate with APSIG Programme Committee on curriculum delivery & outreach effort and Facilitate local sponsorships and partnerships
- Technical Support & Accessibility: Ensure adequate technical facilities are available throughout; ensure accessibility features are present at venues used during events such as: Reliable high-speed internet access and necessary audio-visual equipment, ramps or elevators where needed alongside other considerations like gender neutral restrooms. Also consider Implementing a hybrid format (if required) to accommodate both in-person and virtual participants
Note: local host should be a registered entity within jurisdiction of hosting economy and have a bank account
Meeting Requirements
Conference Date: Typically held between Q3 and Q4; avoid major conference overlaps like APNIC, IGF, ICANN and other similar Internet Governance meetings if possible .
- Conference Format: Consider hybrid format combining physical participation with virtual elements (for online speakers) via platforms like Zoom .
- Main Training Room: Round Table Workshop Settings with the possibility to host breakout sessions, Group Discussions, and Panel Discussions with a capacity for 40-50 Fellows.
- Secretariat Room: Designated room for secretariat and board meeting.
- Lobby and Open Space: Open Space for Networking Breaks with Tea/Coffee facilities.
- Technical Facilities: Ensure reliable internet connection, power sockets to use laptops along with audio-visual facilities
- Accommodation: Identify nearby hotels offering special rates negotiated specifically for fellows, board members and resource persons.
- Catering: Plan daily meals/coffee breaks, welcome/closing receptions considering dietary restrictions.
Proposal Submission
Interested organizations should submit detailed proposals outlining their ability to meet these requirements. The proposal should include the following:
- A detailed description of the proposed venue and facilities.
- Information on the local host organization, including experience in organizing similar events.
- A preliminary budget outlining expected costs and potential funding sources.
- Proposed dates for the event.
- Any additional support or resources the local host can provide.
- Plans for ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all participants.
- Details on technical facilities, including remote participation capabilities
- Outline of accommodation options and transportation arrangements.
